We exist to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ from the four corners of the block to the four corners of the globe.

We do this by committing to our "5 M's":

• spreading the message of the gospel
• showing mercy to our neighbors
• shepherding each other to maturity in Christ
• multiplying by planting churches and training leaders
• sending missionaries to the ends of the Earth

And organizing ourselves with the help of:

• church covenant
• church constitution
• statement of faith

Anacostia was named for the Native American people who once lived along the banks of the Anacostia River. Famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass made Anacostia his home from 1877 until his death in 1895. Now, Anacostia and the greater Ward 8 area are home to approximately 85,000 people. The neighborhood is also home to Anacostia River Church.
