Membership

Baptism

When you think of membership, think of Jesus. When the Bible says “member” or “part,” it means something very Jesus-centered. Each of us are members or parts of Jesus’ spiritual body (1 Corinthians 12:18) and the body of Christ only grows when each member does its part (Ephesians 4:15-16).

This spiritual reality–that every Christian is a member or part of Jesus’ body–is meant to be reflected in visible, active, local church membership. Our membership process involves three simple steps:

  1. Attend a New Member's Orientation (held every other month) where we cover our mission, church covenant, and statement of faith. Email admin@anacostiariverchurch.org to RSVP if interested.
  2. Complete a membership interview with a pastor, where we hear your testimony of conversion to faith and answer any questions you may have.
  3. For those who have not been baptized since becoming a believer, then follow the Lord in baptism.

We ask new members to spend their first six months of membership getting to know as many church family members as possible. After six months, we ask new members to find a way to serve the church family during our Sunday gatherings and/or on our mission in the neighborhood. After a year of membership, we encourage church members to consider various service leadership opportunities in the church.
